About US

One Voice Watford Community Choir was launched in July 2008 following an initiative by Mayor Dorothy Thornhill and a grant from the mayor’s fund. We are an adult community choir (18 years +) for people living in Watford and the surrounding areas. We meet on Thursday evenings during school term time (see our “Join Us” page for rehearsal dates) at the Clarendon Muse Building on the site of the Watford Grammar School for Boys (see our “Contacts” page for full address and map).

Our main objectives are to celebrate diversity through music, to provide local opportunities to learn and sing a varied repertoire of songs, and to give a very warm welcome to all members.

People who enjoy singing for pleasure can join us without any previous singing experience, musical knowledge, auditions, or the need to read music. One Voice has developed an informal method of teaching, where members self-select which voice group most suits their singing range. By learning breathing techniques and singing exercises incorporating rhythm, timing, and harmony, they can achieve impressive results.

Throughout the year One Voice Watford takes part in several performances supporting local organisations, including Watford Centre for the Blind and Watford Remembrance Day Celebrations.

One Voice Watford is managed by a voluntary team elected annually from the choir membership.
